Hi and Welcome to Dwarda Downs
Dwarda Downs is an operational farm with a diversity of bushland areas, creeklines, and arable land. We have been farming here since 1982. The predominant enterprise on the farm is currently sheep for the wool and meat markets. A smaller portion of the property is used to grow crops like wheat, barley, and oats.
We have looked to alternative farm practices in developing a sustainable system at Dwarda Downs. This has lead to diversity in farm life including production of rainbow trout for human consumption. Other activities we have engaged in over the years are pork, poultry, and beef with several national awards in pork production.
Rainbow trout are purchased as small fry and grown out using Bruce's aquatic recirculation system. We provide fresh and smoked trout for local eateries such as Tanglefoot Winery and Wandering Tavern. These trout are also used to stock the hideaway billabong for recreational fishing purposes. Aquaculture byproducts are used to supplement the farm vegetable garden.
Family is an important part of our story. We are parents to seven adult children and proud grandparents to ten little ones. This contributes significantly to our desire for a sustainable farming environment for future generations.
We hope you enjoy your stay.
